Our Values For Dementia Care

Sometimes people think about dementia care only when a loved one is facing this type of disability toward the end of life. But this can be very stressful because the issue of dementia is actually something that looms large in our society as a whole!

With current mortality and longevity rates, you see quite a few people losing their cognitive abilities while they’re still able to move around and function physically.

But without an active and alert cognitive guide, there may not be a lot of value to this mobility in terms of daily health and wellness. People become confused, and overall, pretty impaired by these types of disease.

So what happens? Well, families get help, and they look for the best available partnering businesses and teams to take care of their loved ones.

That’s the role that we play, with core values reflecting the need for specialized dementia care for seniors.

Integrity

First of all, families need to be able to be assured that the facility or business is going to do what it says it will do, and maintain safe and practical environments for dementia patients.

That includes thinking about the kinds of accidents that people can cause due to deteriorating cognitive abilities. It also includes facility standards on things like HVAC and other systems which we saw prominently in the news during a series of natural disasters over the past years.

With all of this, the facility safeguards the health and wellness of its seniors.

Respect

We also operate for the respect of each individual and each family. That’s an important value, too, as we work with people who have dementia, who are some of the most vulnerable people around. They can always advocate for themselves, and so they need someone to do it for them. It’s easier if they’re in an environment that respects their wellness and their wishes.

Dignity

Dementia can be a very undignified thing to deal with, as we’ve seen firsthand.

There’s often quite a lot of sorrow that goes into the equation as people see a person who was fully functional and capable start to deteriorate.

When you can treat that process with dignity, everyone feels better about the situation. Talk to BB about caring for an elderly family member who is wrestling with this troubling yet common mental condition. Science is doing all it can to address the practical treatment of dementia – but good care always helps. That’s our role, and we are proud to help families deal with what they are facing.
